Our company was started by two brothers, Mark and John, who shared a passion for beautiful design and quality craftsmanship. As experienced tile installers, they were frustrated by the lack of unique and well-made tile options on the market. They saw an opportunity to create a tile company that offered creative patterns and textures that could transform any space.
Our Evolution
Satori Tile® began as a small operation in Mark and John’s Southern California garage. Using their expertise in tile fabrication, the brothers began handcrafting hexagon mosaic tiles made from porcelain, glass, and natural stone. They started by selling their tiles online and at local trade shows.
As word spread about the unique designs and durability of Satori Tile®, demand grew rapidly. Within a few years, Mark and John moved production into a warehouse and brought on additional staff to keep up with orders. They expanded the product line to include a wide array of colors, shapes, and materials.
Today, Satori Tile® operates a 40,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Vista, California. We now offer over 500 distinctive tile collections, including our flagship hexagon and penny round mosaics, decorative accents, polished porcelain tiles, marble tiles, and more. Our tiles are sold through our website, catalog, and network of over 600 retailers across North America.
Our Tile Manufacturing
Satori Tile® takes great pride in our tile manufacturing process. Our tiles are fabricated to the highest caliber right here in Southern California. We use state-of-the-art equipment and stringent quality control checks to ensure consistency and durability.
The raw materials for our tiles come from around the world. Our porcelain is sourced from Spain and Italy. Our natural stone comes from Brazil, Turkey, and India. We handpick all materials to ensure optimal color consistency and quality.
Our hexagon mosaics begin as large porcelain and stone slabs. We use water jet cutting machinery to precision cut the slabs into individual hexagon pieces with beveled edges. We combine the hexagon tiles in various colors and finishes to create our mosaic patterns.
The tiles then undergo a special polishing process to achieve a refined, glossy surface. We engrave the back of each tile for an enhanced bonding grip. Strict sorting guidelines guarantee the color uniformity within each tile batch.
Satori Tile® tiles exceed industry standards for durability. Our porcelain tiles rate a PEI 5 for abrasion resistance, the highest rating possible. Our mosaic sheets are mounted on mesh backing for easy installation. We apply high-performance sealants to the tiles for stain and water resistance.
By controlling every step of the manufacturing process, we are able to ensure the superb quality that Satori Tile® is known for. Our in-house design team also means we can quickly translate the latest trends into stylish new tile collections.
